Prof. Dr.-Ing. Raimund Klinkner (* 1965) founded the former INSTITUTE FOR MANUFACTURING EXCELLENCE (IMX) in 2012. The consulting firm has extended its fields of competences with digital & leadership and operates as INSTITUTE FOR MANAGEMENT EXCELLENCE (IMX) since 2018. Raimund Klinkner is the managing partner of the company and holds several mandates in industry as well as in academia.


After his degree in mechanical engineering from the Technical University of Munich, Raimund Klinkner was responsible for logistics planning, procurement and plant control at Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG from 1991 onwards. Parallelly, he did his doctorate on the subject “Quality-integrating manufacturing strategies in the automotive industry“ in 1994. In 1998, Raimund Klinkner was appointed as head of the departments production, purchase und IT at GILDEMEISTER AG (presently DMG MORI AG) and served as deputy CEO of the company from 2003. Between 2007 and 2011, Raimund Klinkner held the position of chief executive officer at Knorr-Bremse AG. Since 2012, Raimund Klinkner has been involved as a member of the supervisory board or advisory board in international corporations.


Since 2000, Raimund Klinkner has been a lecturer at the Technical University of Berlin and was appointed as honorary professor for production logistics at the Institute of Technology and Management in 2003. Within the scope of the seminar entitled manufacturing logistics, Raimund Klinkner imparts future graduates profound knowledge about designing production processes, process evaluation and improvement as well as product development.


The honorary engagement of Raimund Klinkner is steadily oriented towards strengthening german production and logistics in the long term. As chairman of the Manufacturing Excellence (MX) network, Raimund Klinkner established a platform for promoting cross-industry exchange and collaboration between scientific and practical experts. During his services as chairman of the German Logistics Association (BVL) e.V., Raimund Klinkner has been actively involved in the expansion of the most important european network for supply chain management and logistics from 2007 to 2017.
